The MASON VALUES campaign is designed to encourage those of you who live and work in the Mason area to make more of your purchases locally. Buying locally has a direct positive effect on our community’s economy. Shifting more of your purchases away from businesses located outside our community toward local businesses creates additional job opportunities right here and also attracts new businesses – adding more diversity to the shopping opportunities available to you in the Mason area. 

Of course, we all need to buy certain goods and services outside of the Mason area from time to time. But, next time you decide to travel out of town (or log onto a distant website) to spend your money, think of the possible lost value of that money to your own community. Instead, when you buy locally, the "multiplier effect" of keeping your money working within our community usually creates more value to you long-term than any possible short-term convenience or slightly lower price.

Through the MASON VALUES campaign, we’re helping you and all residents and visitors understand the full impact of spending your dollars right here in the Mason area.  We can do a lot ourselves to improve our local economy. We don’t have to wait for government to do it for us. Actually, increasing your buying from our local businesses also helps to hold down local taxes. Improved prosperity in our local economy assists in adding funding for recreation, street improvements, libraries, police, fire services, utilities, and parks. This allows us to get back on the path our community started walking back in 1865 – moving toward an ever improving quality of life and standard of living.  That’s why we all benefit when more of our money stays right here in Mason, Michigan – Hometown U.S.A.
