Annual Awards Dinner – January’s Mason in Motion newsletter highlighted the Chamber’s 35th Anniversary Celebration and Annual Awards Dinner which will be held the evening of Wednesday, February 7th at the Eldorado Golf Course Banquet Center on W. Howell Road. See details in the January newsletter insert. It’s now time to make your reservations ($30 per person) by calling us at 676-1046 today!
Annual Awards Dinner – As a Chamber member, take pride in honoring our 2007 award winners when you see them! The Citizen of the Year Award: Don Jacot, The Excellence in Business Award: Sheridan Realty & Auction Co., The Excellence in Education Award: Barb Buda, The President’s Award: Ron Tatro, Special Recognition: Mason Promise Scholarship and Jeff Haueter. The Chamber's 35th Anniversary Celebration and Annual Awards Dinner will also be when we'll present Chamber Leadership Service Awards to the past president and retiring Board members. This year, we’ll also recognize 1972 Charter Members of the Chamber and all past presidents.
New 2007 Chamber Officers and Board Members– The Chamber has new officers for 2007. Mark Howe of Dart Bank is our president, Joe Dean of the City of Mason is vice president, Robin King of Independent Bank is treasurer, and Dan Schlattman of Daniel J. Schlattman CPA PC is immediate past president. These four officers are all Board members and make up the Executive Committee of the Chamber. We also welcome several brand new Board members Neil Kentner of Wynsmoor Manor, Bob Warnke of Mason State Bank, Lance Delbridge of Mason Public Schools, and Phil Preston of Gestamp US HardTech.
Membership Rises at End of Year – We have added several new members just in the past month. Contact details were in the January newsletter. All membership dues are payable on or before January 15th. We’ll have a monthly report for the Membership Services Committee monthly on payment progress through mid-April, when we usually must discontinue a few members for non-payment. Our 35th Anniversary MACC Membership Drive will start later this spring also. We are in a much stronger membership level position than other Chambers in mid-Michigan. They’ve been affected even more than we have by the poor local economy. A recession often hits voluntary nonprofit business associations like the Chambers quite hard, so thanks to all Mason area businesses and organizations for supporting your Chamber.
Market Break Workshops Start Next Week – As you may have noticed in the newsletter, the Hometown USA Committee is sponsoring a series of small workshops on marketing topics called “Market Breaks” during 2007. The first is on the topic of niche marketing and will be on Thursday, January 25th from 7:30 to 9 AM and held in the Chamber office. Reservations are required, as there is a strict limit of 12 people. Five of the 12 spots are already taken! The only cost is a small donation for bagels, juice & coffee. Talk this up and call or e-mail reservations to us.
MACC Distributes Sixth E-mail Bulletin – This “Mason in Motion Update” bulletin is being sent to those who have e-mail addresses registered with the Mason Area Chamber of Commerce as Chamber members, associates of Chamber members, and select Chamber stakeholders. To be removed from this list, do NOT reply to this e-mail. Instead, please send a new e-mail with the word “unsubscribe” in the subject line to masonchamber@masonchamber.org. If you know of anyone who should get one, also let us know.
Chamber Committee Meetings – The first Membership Services Committee meeting for 2007 will be on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 7:30 AM and the first Economic Development Committee meeting for 2007 will be on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 7:30 AM. The Board of Directors voted at the January meeting to try holding standing committee meetings at 7:30 AM, although the day and date remain flexible. Both meetings are in the Chamber office.
