Send MHS Choir Members to Carnegie Hall -- The Chamber Choir of Mason High School has been invited to participate in a combined choir performance of Songs of Meditation by Stephen Paulus, accompanied by the New England Symphonic Ensemble and conducted by Dr. Sandra Snow, at Carnegie Hall in New York City, May 26, 2007. Singing in Carnegie Hall and working with Dr. Snow is a tremendous opportunity for the choir. The choir will spend 4 days and nights working with Dr. Snow and the symphonic ensemble.   In order for them to participate, they need to raise $31,500.  They have been busy with a variety of fundraisers. Some of their singers do not have the economic resources to help fund the cost of the trip and for all this is a big chunk of money. This is a lifetime opportunity and they are asking for community support and financial assistance.  They will have a Silent Auction/Dinner/Concert, featuring all of our choir members, on December 20th at the High School. Please consider donating an item, gift card or service from your business. If you are able to make a donation for the Silent Auction please let their director Helen Hansens know by Thursday, December 14th at (517) 676-9055 X 142 or hhansens@mason.k12.mi.usPlease know that they are working hard to generate funds, and, due to the significant amount they need to raise, they really need your help.  They’d love to have you attend the December event as well. Tickets are on sale now. Cost is $15 for 12 and older, $10 for under 12.  If you are able to make cash contributions to help to sponsor a student we encourage and accept those as well. Your donations are tax deductible.

Another Concert Reminder – As mentioned in December’s newsletter, The Mason Orchestral Society’s Mason Community Orchestra and the Mason Youth Symphony, under the direction of Conductor Nat Parker, will present its annual holiday concert on Friday, December 15th at 7:30 PM in the Mason High School Auditorium. This year’s selections will include holiday music such as Babes in Toyland, Deck the Halls, and The Messiah by Handel. The concert is free and open to the public.  The orchestras have musicians from throughout the Mason area. They present four concerts per season.  In addition to the holiday concert on December 15, 2006, there will be concerts held on March 4, 2007 and May 4, 2007.
